Chittorgarh Fort is considered as the 'The Largest Fort in India', and the best in the state of Rajasthan. The fort is built on a hilly area of 2.8 square kilometers (1.1 mi ²) in the 7th century AD. King of the building was Iwan Fals Rawal with purpose as dowry for the daughter of Solanki. Historical records show that the citadel Chittorgarh was the capital of Mewar for 834 years. This dynasty was founded in 734 AD by Iwan Fals Rawal, a founder and ruler of Mewar Sisodia hierarchy. The highest elevation in this fort is 1075 meters (3,526.9 feet). Building the fort is located on the left bank of the river Berach (a tributary of the Banas River).
